A workplace norm

This story is one so familiar to almost any employee out there. You know that on that ends with you being called into work impromptu even while on a leave. 

Yep, that's the one.

Philip could have been stranded but not if we have something to say about that.

You see Philip had to attend a seasonal church program in Abuja and as per the usual, he requested a leave for a couple of days. 

Unknowingly to Philip, there was a huge oversight. 

He didn’t specify that he needed the leave specifically because he was going out of town. 

So It's Thursday evening. After an amazing sermon Philp was prepping for bed after a day of praying, sermons and networking when Suddenly His phone rung out of the blue!

Who's calling at this ungodly hour ehnnnnn! - Philip mutters to himself as he leaps out of the bed and heads in the direction of his phone. Ready to give this caller a mouthful and a lesson on call etiquette. 

Ah! “My oga” he says out loud staring at the screen and then at the wall clock. 

His eyes widen now and he's much more alert. That can't be any good he thinks to himself. Why is he calling at this hour, as he reaches out picking up the phone. 

Hello Sir 

Boss - Hey Philip, we hate to do this but we'll need you at the office on saturday evening 5:30pm to handle………… So do well to be early. Have a great night. Line goes dead.

And Just like that philip finds himself between a rock and a hard place. 

It's past 10:00pm already, how do I book a trip this late at night.

Immediately Philip goes online and starts surfing bus sites. His requirements were very specific and most buses were already full or scheduled for later times. Philip needed to be on the very first bus in order to make it in time.

After a few more searches he finally found the right fit on Facebook and Powered by a certain blue app you should be familiar with by now….hehehehe

He saw one of our transport themed posts and down the rabbit hole he went of course.

Philip was able to get back in time, secure the favour of his employers and now has a new favorite app for all things tickets. 

Philip now spends most of his days spreading the Syticks gospel to all that would listen……hahahaha.
